Second Annual English Access Leadership and Culture Camp

2011 Access Camp in Sao Paulo

The Second Annual English Access Leadership and Culture Camp kicks off Sunday January 22 in Sao Paulo.  The Access Camp brings 30 Access students (ages 15-17) from Recife, Salvador, Manaus, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo plus five Youth Ambassadors (one from each city) for a six-day program on English language, U.S. culture, and leadership development.  The program organized by staff of the Public Affairs Office and the RELO Office includes interactive and hands-on activities focused on English language, leadership development and community/social projects complemented by a baseball clinic by Little League Brazil, a cooking class led by the CAO.

Five teams of six Access students mentored by a Youth Ambassador will work with representatives from five corporations  --Microsoft, Dow, Fedex, Google and Ford --  to reflect on corporate social responsibility projects and create a short video to be presented at the closing ceremony on Friday.  Wednesday and Thursday evenings the students will experience a slice of the United States during their home stays with Americans from the consulate.
