Summit Hits the High Spots for Alumni
São Paulo | May 11, 2011
Students at Alumni Summit opening reception
From May 6-8, the U.S. Mission in Brazil brought over 140 alumni of USG-sponsored exchanges from across Brazil to Sao Paulo for a series of workshops centered around the theme of “Leadership and Social Responsibility.” Consul General Thomas Kelly in welcoming the IV, VV, Humphrey, Fulbright and youth program alumni encouraged them to take full advantage of the learning and networking possibilities.
Keynote speaker, Municipal Secretary of Education for Rio de Janeiro Claudia Costin, a former Voluntary Visitor, called on alumni young and old to share their ideas, experiences and dreams in developing projects for the betterment of their communities. Brazil’s first Alumni Summit made the connections between these current and future leaders that will energize Brazil and the Brazil-US relationship for the next generations.
