CG Applauds São José dos Campos for Charity Drives

On Monday, February 28, Consul General Tom Kelly met with Ana Carolina Bernandes, a 14 year old student at the Instituto Cultural Brazil-EUA (ICBEU)in Sao Jose dos Campos who was representing the team of students, teachers and administrators at ICBEU who have been so successful in serving their community through charity drives.  Ana Carolina has stood out for her efforts during each campaign.  During the ICBEU Christmas toy drive, she collected over 250 toys for disadvantaged children and over 200 liters of milk in a recent milk drive.   CG Kelly congratulated her on her extraordinary efforts and leadership. 

ICBEU organizes several charity campaigns throughout the year – a pre-winter drive for coats in May, a milk campaign in September and a toy drive in November.  During the 2010 campaigns, ICBEU collected over 6,000 coats, 2.5 tons of milk, and 7,500 toys, all of which were distrubted to and by local charities.
