Consul General Dennis Hankins
Dennis Hankins is the newly assigned Principal Officer for Consulate General Sao Paulo.
Mr. Hankins in a member of the Senior Foreign Service with the rank of Counselor. He just completed a two year assignment as Deputy Chief of Mission in Khartoum, Sudan. He has previously served as Deputy Chief of Mission in Nouakchott, Mauritania, and in Maputo, Mozambique. Other assignments include Deputy Director of the Office of Peacekeeping, Sanctions, and Counterterrorism, Consul General Riyadh, Political and Economic Counselor Lisbon, and Political Counselor Kinshasa. Mr. Hankins began his career in the Foreign Service as Vice Consul in Recife, Brazil in 1985.
Mr. Hankins was raised in Bemidji, Minnesota. He is a graduate of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and of the National Defense University’s National War College. He is married and has one son who is serving in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Hankins speaks Portuguese and French.
