Acting Consul General William Popp
William W. Popp is Acting Consul General at the U.S. Consulate General in São Paulo, Brazil. He has served as the Deputy U.S. Consul General and Economic/Political Section Chief at the U.S. Consulate General in São Paulo since June 2009. A career member of the U.S. Foreign Service, he previously served as Deputy Economic Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Bogota, Colombia; State Department Senior Brazil Desk Officer in Washington DC; Staff Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of State for Economic, Energy and Business Affairs; Political Secretary at the U.S. Embassy in Luanda, Angola; and Vice Consul and Economic Secretary at the U.S. Embassy in Managua, Nicaragua.
A native of Missouri, Mr. Popp earned a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, in International Studies and Political Science from Westminster College, in Fulton, Missouri, and a Master of Arts in International Affairs from The George Washington University in Washington, DC. He is married and has one daughter.
