Stressing the ongoing need for educational exchanges between Brazil and the United States, Consul General Thomas Kelly traveled to the cities of Franca and Ribeirão Preto on May 19 for two engagements with students.  In Franca, CG Kelly visited the Brazil-U.S. Cultural Center (CCBEU), a bi-national center, where he talked to the students about studying English.  CG Kelly emphasized the value of English in opening doors to educational opportunities in the United States and to the global workplace.  CG Kelly also paid a courtesy call on Franca’s Mayor Sidnei Franco da Rocha to discuss how U.S. businesses can participate in expanding ties with Franca's primary commercial sectors including sweets, footwear, and apparel.  Later, he spoke to 150 students at FAAP's Ribeirão Preto campus about U.S.-Brazil relations and the importance of two-way educational exchanges as a means of building bridges and greater understanding between our two societies.
