With President Obama’s pledge to increase the number of exchange students between the U.S. and Latin America fresh in the minds of Brazilians, Consul General Thomas Kelly co-hosted a reception with the Binational Center Associacao Alumni for the 30 EducationUSA student advisors from the far corners of Brazil as well as representatives from U.S. and Brazilian universities. In welcoming the advisors Consul General Kelly highlighted how much EducationUSA advisors have contributed in this area. “The U.S. Mission has lots of priorities, but none have more lasting impact than promoting study by Brazilians in the United States. As education advisors you are on the frontline of our efforts.”
The advisors are in Sao Paulo for a weeklong workshop to discuss ways to increase the number of Brazilians studying in the U.S. and to develop partnerships between U.S. and Brazilian universities. The workshop runs from March 28-31 in Sao Paulo and combines the expertise of the Consulate’s Public Affairs and Consular sections with the perspectives of representatives from twelve U.S. universities. Special thanks go to Associacao Alumni and President Julìo Sampaio for sponsoring the workshop and hosting the advisors during the entire week.
