Grant Supports Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Infrastructure in Brazil
In support of Brazil’s continuing effort to adopt state-of-the-art technology to facilitate the flow of goods and services in its growing economy, as well as increase road safety, the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) provided a grant of $460,000 to EcoRodovias, a Brazilian private intermodal logistics company and one of the country’s largest highway concessionaires. On December 21st, Acting Consul General William Popp signed the grant with EcoRodovias’ Vice President Frederico Botto and Corporate Technology Director Carlos Paavola, paving the way for the company to expand its Intelligent Transportation System (ITS).
The grant will have EcoRodovias select a U.S. contractor to complete the USTDA-funded technical assistance, which will serve to develop a detailed plan for the acquisition, deployment and integration of new ITS technologies into the company’s transportation infrastructure. The project presents significant opportunities for U.S. firms in areas such as electronic traffic signs, highway monitoring systems and emergency communications technologies. For additional information, please see USTDA’s official press release.
