Consul General Cites Growing Partnerships in Santa Catarina

On February 21-23, Consul General Thomas Kelly made his second visit to Santa Catarina state, where he met with political, business and educational leaders in Joinville to explore opportunities for expanding ties with the United States. In remarks to 200 students and faculty at the University of Joinville, CG Kelly outlined the growing bilateral partnership between the United States and Brazil in the 21st century. In meetings with Mayor Carlito Merss, CG Kelly emphasized the close economic relationship represented by U.S. companies in the region like Whirlpool/Embraco, which he toured during his visit. Finally, underscoring longstanding partnerships on education and culture, CG Kelly visited the Centro Cultural Brasil-Estados Unidos de Joinville (CCBEUJ), where he spoke with students about opportunities for continuing their English studies and pursuing university programs in the United States.
